Winter champagne cocktail

Champagne cocktails served to your guests as they arrive, cause who wouldn't want a little pre-bubbly before the festivities begin? So, how about serving this wintery pretty concoction from Sweet Paul's magazine?

Champagne Cocktail from Sweet Paul
Recipe for one drink

3 oz of champagne
1/3 oz of cognac
2 dashes of Angostura bitters
1 sugar cube

1.) Soak sugar cube in champagne flute with angostura bitters 2.) Add champagne and cognac
3.) Garnish with a sprig of currents

And who could say "no" to anything designed by Vionnet, like these black and midnight blue trimmed in gold heels?  Top it off with a sweet little posy, of amethyst colored pansies mixed with lambs ear. I know BIG bouquets are usually the way to go but there's something sweet and romantic about petite ones, especially if you're choosing a delicate flower like the pansy, which are a very winter friendly flower......

The hunt for a stylish, budget, winter wedding dress continues....

Diane von Furstenberg lace dress with a price point of $345 might allow you to pair up with some lux accessories, like a cozy fake fur, gold loefeller lovelies and real antique diamonds. I mean, they are forever, the diamonds that is. Who says you can't mix fake with the real deal? I personally think it's a divine combo.

Have you ever seen Christmas colors look so chic? Long sleeve, clean line cream colored Harlow dress by Rag & Bone. My fav detail of this beaut, is the exposed zipper up the back, how hot is that? And with a charming price tag of, $450.00, maybe there's room for a big splurge, say, for that warm, stylish hunter green, coat by Dries Van Noten. This week I will be posting various "budget" friendly dresses as alternate winter wedding options for the little lady in need of something a bit, well, unbride-like but still wants to feel like a bride, make sense? I thought so. This beige number would be lurvely and mos def get more uses out of the style in the future. (I said "budget" dress but I'm going all out with accessories, um I can't hold back) Here in Italy you have two choices, church or civil ceremony this wedding style would be perfect for either but I'm leaning towards civial ceremony, which is the equivelant to courthouse wedding except here you might be in a GORG fresco on the wall kind of place....

WEDDING STYLE: Winter Wedding Greta

Who says you need a meringue-like ball gown for ya nuptials? I don't but I do believe you should marry in style. My fav 2011 winter wedding picks are: short, chic and a pop of that peacock color we all keep seeing around this season. (Yes, I too fall for trends. shhh) Color not your thing? try winter grey. And don't fret if you're still at a loss finding the dress, cause that Lulu Frost seems to be the necklace that will prettify anything or anyone. Heck, I suggest ya build your wedding style around it. It's freakin dreamy, no?

Note: This winter wedding board was inspired by my grandmother, Greta. For fancy festivities she always rocked her rhinestone necklaces and kept warm in my grandfathers hand me down camel coats.

ACCESSORIES: Fur Caplet

I love the idea of vintage fur or faux fur caplets but it's sometimes a different story when it's on a real human being, it can make one look like a dressed up cuddly animal from the wild. Not to mention, the weight of the fur can add extra layers, one might not need or desire.  So, if you're a regular reader of LWB you might have seen a link on my "little weekly finds" last week to what appears to look like a fancy, smancy fur caplet. However, I'm afraid not all love this style. Too fur sweatshirt? (esb, love how you come up with this stuff). Now looking at it,  I have to sort of agree but then I remembered the winter bride pictured above from an old NYmag weddings issue and I have to say, she certainly pulls of the fur sweatshirt look. Quite chic, no?

NYmag Weddings: Winter 2011 Issue

Just received my New York Magazine Wedding Winter 2011 Issue and took a little afternoon cafe break to read it cover to cover.

WEDDING STYLE: Grey Winter Bride

Brrrrr, it's cold outside, with snow flurries everywhere....so, so pretty

Today's wedding style is inspired by the beautiful snowfall here in Milano.

Elegant and simple bridal attire with a color palette of ivory and grey paired with a seasonal bridal bouquet of Hyacinths, Paper Whites, Wax Flower, Dusty Miller.

For a splash of color, you can never go wrong with a little red lipstick. I recommend this shade by laura mercier.

Little winter bride's, the chilly winter season has arrived and it's time to think about your outerwear.  Those designer heels might have to be replaced for a moment as you step outside into the winter landscape for your photographs, so how about some shearling hunter boots? WEDDING DETAILS: Winter Table Setting

A winter wedding table setting with moss, candles and pine cones
 But what I love most about this decor, are the cloth menus and name tags....

So, if you're the creative type this could be a great DIY project

if you live in the right environment you can simply collect the pine cones or buy them here and purchase the following items: moss here, fabric, votive candles, and  digital transfer paper . To design the menu all you would need is the computer\printer. If you wanna get fancy use a design program such Adobe Illustrator but even Word would work.....

REAL WEDDING: Winter Wedding in the Italian Alps

 I'm so excited to share a winter wedding with you all today, it's one of my favorite seasons for weddings, so romantic, especially when the celebrations involves, a sleigh ride, snow and the alps......
This beautiful couple, Stella and Rob, wanted a winter wonderland setting for their January nuptials, where they could ski and celebrate with friends and family. So, for their wedding celebration, they choose to head to South Tyrol, in the Italian Alps. This special spot is located in the most northern part of Italy, bordered by Austria to the east and north and by Switzerland to the west. Can we say heavenly?
Guests hiked up the mountain for the wedding ceremony, followed by delicious hot mull wine and some celebratory dancing. Then everyone headed back down the mountain on sleds for the reception.

Paris Winter Engagement

I don't know about you but these engagement photographs, taken in Paris, sure put me in the mood for winter. I'm usually not one for engagement photos, in fact, I think this is the very first time I've ever posted a set but I couldn't resist these sweet Parisian shots.  They feel more natural than the million others I've come across. I know, I know, how unromantic of me but honestly, all I've been seeing lately are engagement photos that look more like advertisements for "happily ever after". Don't get me wrong, I know it is important for some couples to capture the engagement period but sometimes they look, well, forced. They're usually too staged, too many props, too many wardrobe changes, too much I tell ya! But if it's ya thing then it's ya thing, it's just not mine. What happen to photographing, at that very moment of the engagement candid shot? which do you prefer candid or staged?
