REAL WEDDING: A Surprise Engagement & Wedding

I know I gush over every wedding that is featured here at LWB but this is seriously the most romantic one I have ever laid eyes on. I give it ten gold stars.  I mean, how do you top, a surprise engagement that turns into a surprise wedding on a breathtaking beach in, Tofino, British Columbia?  To see more of this blissful love story go here.

little weekly finds.......

these colorful stacked rings
how about some hand crafted candies like these or these as wedding favors?
I love how succulents are used everywhere (esp. the cake) in this elegant, rustic intimate Malibu wedding..........which reminds me of another favorite, elegant, rustic, California wedding that popped up last year.
hand painted vintage floral plate
love this bridal style from head to toe
how lovely are these to clink some bubbly in? But my eyeballs can't get over how costly. I think I'd rather head to the flea market to find my treasure for a little less. As much as I adore, Anthropologie, at times it really makes me a little peeved at how much they over charge on some things. Okay, everything. anyone else?

Have any fun plans for the weekend?
A. and I are having a quiet, mellow, weekend at home in Milan. The weather has been oddly perfect for this time of year. Maybe I'll work in the garden tomorrow....
speaking of gardens, was in Roma last weekend and spent a lovely afternoon here.

Flower Spotlight: Magnolia

REAL WEDDING: PART III Italian Vineyard

Today is PART III of the Italian Vineyard wedding.
If you missed PART I and II be sure to check them out.
One of my favorite parts of this wedding, (and there were many) was the enchanting, candle lit 18th century cantina that guests had to walk through to reach the aperitivo hour. pure magic I tell ya.
If there are any brides to be out there looking for a destination spot in Italy for a wedding, this location is the place.

REAL WEDDING: PART I Italian Vineyard

This past May, I had the pleasure of being hired by a wonderful couple, Julie and Deneb, to photograph their lovely intimate wedding in Gavi, Italy, located in the Piemonte region. (probably my most favorite region in Italy thus far....it's absolutely heaven like in Autumn during truffle season). The wedding took place at, L' Ostelliere, a hotel, restaurant and winery all in one, tucked up on Monterotondo hill with spectacular views of the vineyard and countryside.  It was ridiculously breathtaking, not to mention, one of the most heartfelt weddings I've ever seen. Family and friends all had a hand in creating this beautiful day, from the brides dress, which was handmade by her mother, to the ceremony, which her father officiated to the musician friends that played through out the festivities.

It was splendid.
I will let you feast your eyes on these beauties for now but be sure to stop by LWB tomorrow for
PART II and III

Scenes From A Marriage

Hello....long time no talk. I know it's been awhile since I have posted at Little Winter Bride but it's been a bit of a roller coaster ride these past 7 months. I don't want to get too personal but maybe just a little as I would like to explain my absence.
My hubs and I have always envisioned a life with little ones, so after 16 years of knowing one another, 2 years of dating and 3 years of marriage, we decided the summer of 2010 was the perfect time to start a family. This time last year, our summer started us off happy, giddy and excited about embarking on this next big step in our lives but what we weren't prepared for, was how difficult and uncertain this next step would be. I must have been naive thinking it would be a piece of cake, I sure never thought we would have any problems or that waiting till we were 32 would be a big deal but apparently it is.
While the road to starting a family should be light, loving and fun, we've found out it's not all happy go lucky. We've seem to be given a different map, heading down a road that has many bumps (more like giant sized Manhattan potholes) which has been quite difficult for us emotionally and even a bit more on me, as I'm the one being put under the medical microscope. (Not to mention enduring all this in Italy, which has it own set of stories and some long trips back to New York City).  So, as the months went on, it became harder and harder to blog, harder to see everyone around you take that next step into parenthood, in both my real world and blogosphere. So I had to step away. Hence for my looooooong silence.  Two surgeries later and we still haven't seen the light at the end of the tunnel but I know we will some day.  What I have learned from this experience so far, is, we should all be having babies when we're in our early 20's not in our early 30's ........geez, ...(seriously, this is what every doctor and specialist we've met along the way has said to us. Ya, really helpful, I know. Especially,  when one cannot turn back the clock, srsly)
This may be a wedding style blog but sharing scenes from an every day marriage seems also appropriate.  It's reality.  While it still continues to be hard to hear of others joyful baby bliss at times, (it's definitely becoming even harder as time goes on) I realize I can't put certain things on hold. I had such big plans for this blog and want to move forward. So I am happy to say, I'm back! Okay, back to fluff and stuff, I have a GORG American-Italian winery wedding to share with you all next week and many new projects keeping me busy so be sure to stop by on Monday........

Happy Holidays

Photobucket

Seasons Greetings to all! May your home be filled with the joy of family and friends this holiday season. I apologize for the light or non existent posting but it was a busy busy week in Milan with many Christmas gatherings and last minute shopping. Now we're off to the states for more Christmas and New Years festivities, although that little blizzard has us stranded in London, oh what a shame, guess I have to go shopping! Hope all east coasters are enjoying the winter snow storm. Posting will pick up next week....
stay tuned...

WEDDING STYLE: Grey Winter Bride

Photobucket
Brrrrr, it's cold outside, with snow flurries everywhere....so, so pretty
Today's wedding style is inspired by the beautiful snowfall here in Milano.
Elegant and simple bridal attire with a color palette of ivory and grey paired with a seasonal bridal bouquet of Hyacinths, Paper Whites, Wax Flower, Dusty Miller.
For a splash of color, you can never go wrong with a little red lipstick. I recommend this shade by laura mercier.
